Get Him to the Greek is an upcoming Americancomedy film, written and directed by Nicholas Stoller and starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. The film is scheduled for a theatical release in June 2010. Get Him to the Greek is a spin-off from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, reuniting director Stoller with stars Hill and Brand. Brand reprises his character Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, while Hill plays an entirely new character. At one point, the film's title was changed to Get Me to the Gig and was then reverted back to its original title.
Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is a driven, idealistic young college graduate who works as an intern at a record company. Aaron is given his big break when he is sent to transport flaky English musician Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to a concert at Los Angeles' Greek Theater.
I Love You Phillip Morris is an upcoming comedy-drama film based on the real life events of con artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapeeSteven Jay Russell played by Jim Carrey. While incarcerated, Russell falls in love with his cell mate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). After Morris is released from prison, Russell escapes from prison four times in order to be reunited with Morris.
After original difficulty finding a U.S. distributor, likely due to its homosexual content, the film was re-edited. It was recently announced by Variety that Consolidated Pictures Group has acquired the rights for distribution. The film is set for a release in France in February 2010 and the United Kingdom and the United States in March 19.
The film was adapted from I Love You Phillip Morris: A True Story of Life, Love, and Prison Breaks by Steve McVicker.
The story begins with Russell, played by Jim Carrey, on his deathbed recalling the events of his life that led him there. He begins with his life in Texas as a happily married police officer who plays the organ at church, prays every night with his wife (Leslie Mann) and spends his off hours searching for the biological mother who gave him up as a child. That, and hes gay. But after finding and being handily rejected by the mother who gave him up as a baby, Steven leaves his life and family behind to go out into the world and be his true, flamboyantly gay self. He moves to Miami, finds a boyfriend (Rodrigo Santoro) and begins living the high life.
He realizes quickly though, that a life of luxury is expensive, leading this resourceful former cop to turn to a life as a conman. But when his con work finally catches up with him, Steven is sent to prison where he meets, and almost instantly falls in love with Phillip Morris, played by Ewan McGregor. From there the story becomes a Don Quixote-esque story of a forlorn lover who cannot bear to be separated from his soul-mate.
He will go to any lengths to be with Phillip, including but not limited to breaking out of jail on multiple occasions, impersonating Phillips lawyer and fraudulently becoming the CFO of a major corporation.
